An introduction to automotive brake system

Current advancements in automotive technology have helped us achieve more speeds. Automobile manufacturers all around the world, are aware that driving automobiles at high speeds demands effective vehicle stability, so they have largely focused on the development of vehicles that are not only fast but also safe.

The brake system, which constitutes an integral part of an automobile, have undergone tremendous changes in terms of performance, technology, design and safety, becoming extremely dependable and efficient after been refined for over 100 years. It allows a driver to slow and stop a moving vehicle or prevent a stationary one from moving.

Featured Fact

"Automotive brake system is one of the most important parts of any vehicle".

Automotive brake system is one of the most important parts of any vehicle, failure of the automobile brake system can lead to accidents, property damage, physical injuries or even death of an individual. These effects of brake system failure are more critical for commercial vehicles which need more attention on their requirements.

The market for brake systems has been driven, not only by the growing demand of vehicle production, but also by environmental and other government regulations regarding safety, which require the implementation of advanced brake systems, as well as other systems that enable speed control and prevent skidding of vehicles, minimizing risks of a potential, and in some cases fatal accident. All these factors have contributed magnanimously to the significant progress and development both of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Aftermarket brake system industry.

Aftermarket are products used to replace damaged parts in automobiles and other vehicles. Although they are not made by the original equipment manufacturer, but by several different manufacturers, Aftermarket parts are fabricated under the exact and specific regulations of the vehicle manufacturer and OEM products, are of the same quality as its original parts and generally less expensive.

Vulcanizing glue & roll linings

Vulcanization is a industrial chemical process in which the natural rubber is heated with sulphur, accelerator and activator at 140–160°C. The process involves the formation of cross-links between long rubber molecules so as to achieve improved elasticity, stability, resilience, tensile strength, viscosity, hardness and weather resistance. Because this process requires great heat, it was named after the Roman god of fire, Vulcan. The heat that this process generates serves to fuse the tire’s various components (the body plies, steel belts and bead bundle) together.

Vulcanizing Glue is a fastening material used to repair tire tubes giving them the property of hardening and cross-linking broken rubber parts making them useful again. It is also used to vulcanize the flexible band or lining with the brake’s band or shoe.

Vulcanizing cement & Vulcanizing fuid are fast-drying adhesives consisting of elastic polymers, such as gum arabic or natural rubber, which have been dissolved in a solution of toluene, acetone, benzene, chloroform, or heptane. They are both vulcanizing glues used in making cross-links in materials made of rubbers, but formulated differently: different solvents, and probably different rubber too.

Brake Roll Lining Is a brake lining, available in roll form . It is used in automobiles, industrial and agricultural machinery. Our brake linings are widely accepted for national and international vehicles and also for two-wheelers.

Catering to the needs of vehicle manufacturers and consumers in this country and abroad, IMEX USA offers a wide range of automotive roll linings: Flexible Brake Roll Lining Is a rubber flexible molded lining, manufactured using a non-metallic general purpose friction material having superior strength features & high resistance properties. Asbestos-Free (dark grey in color with only non-asbestos contents) and Asbestos-Based (light grey in color).

Wire Back Roll Lining is a lining manufactured in high quality wire, available in customized forms for automotive, agricultural and industrial machinery. Asbestos-Free (completely asbestos free, used in cases where riveting is preferred over bonding) and Asbestos-Based (manufactured as per customer’s specifications and within the stipulated time frame, and is used to impart strength to the brake for special applications)
